A NOVEL ABOUT THE
TRUE-LIFE MURDER
OF TAMMY HAAS
This is the true story of the murder of Tammy Haas,
who on homecoming eve 1992, went to a party on a
Nebraska farm and never returned home.

Though six law enforcement agencies thoroughly
investigated the case and brought ample physical
and circumstantial evidence against her killer and
those who helped him cover up the crime, many in
Yankton, South Dakota have remained in utter
denial about even the most basic facts of the case --
facts that the accused will not even deny.

Too many wear the security blanket of denial, and
so to this day, those responsible remain on the
street -- living violent and dangerous lives, hurting
those around them with their continued drug abuse
and repeated instances of domestic violence.

These people have threatened the lives of any who
have attempted to bring closure to this case. These
threats have been witnessed by many, and still
nothing is done, for in a small town it is not the crime
of murder that is the real sin, but rather the bringing
of that truth into the light. Better to hide behind the
white picket fences, better to let the church bells
drown out the voice of reason, better to appease,
hoping that by feeding the monster, you and your
loved ones will be devoured last.

The purpose of this website and the novel
the
Homecoming
is to crack light upon the apathy and
violence that this kind of denial perpetuates.
He who passively accepts evil
is as much involved in it as he
who helps perpetrate it....
